Tuxedo Sam Pattern

Updated: Aug 20

Hey friends! Welcome back! Are you ready for another fun free pattern?! I meant to get this one out on Friday, but I ended up going to a concert, so I’m a bit late. I hope you will all forgive me!!

Today’s pattern is another addition to the Sanrio collection! Tuxedo Sam!! This cute penguin is one of my favorite lesser-known Sanrio characters! I just love his little sailor hat and how he’s clumsy and likes snacks, just like me! I made this pattern quite some time ago and completely forgot about it until I was going through my old pattern notebook not too long ago, so I let you all vote on Instagram which pattern you would like to see this week and Tuxedo Sam won! I’m so excited to share this pattern with you and I really hope you all will like it! This pattern includes a fair bit of sewing, but nothing that’s too difficult I hope! Anyway, let's just get right into today's pattern, shall we?!

~If you have any questions about the pattern, or you just want to send me a picture of your finished project please contact me at contact.cutiepiecrochet@gmail.com! Round 2: ch 1, turn, inc x3 [6]

sc across flat edge

*make sure both pieces have same number of stitches on flat edge

Fasten off. Sew together outer (round) edges of beak. I used a running stitch so that the edges remain neat and clean.

Bow:

All into mr:

(Ch2, dc 3, ch2,ss back into mr)x2

Leave a long tail, tighten mr, and wrap the tail around the center a couple of times before sewing the bow on

Assembly:

Now that all your pieces are finished, it’s time to sew your new friend together! Start with sewing the tail onto the bottom of the body, in a way that keeps the body propped up.

Then attach the tummy patch, lining it up first with the underside of the tail and up through the middle of the body and then sewing down all the sides.

Then attach the arms in whatever way you like best. After that, attach the feet, making sure to only sew down the back half of the foot so that the toes are free to move a bit. The left foot should be under the plush and the right one sort of on the front/bottom to make it look like Tuxedo Sam is walking or dancing. But really you can do it however you like!

Attach the hat, sewing through the FLO row. Now all that’s left to do is sew on the bow at the top middle of the tummy patch and the beak right above that on the blue part, slightly overlapping the tip of the white tummy patch. Finish up with embroidering the eyes and then you are all done!

Thank you so much for joining me today to make this super cute little Tuxedo Sam! I hope you have fun making him and if you do, you should email me at crochet_things@yahoo.com or tag me on Instagram @cutiepie_crochet and show me your finished plushies! <3

That is all for this week's pattern! I can't wait to see you here next time! Until then, HAPPY CROCHETING! <3
