This is a free, super simple pattern to make an adorable tiny dumbo octopus plush toy!

This Tiny Dumbo Octopus Pattern is the perfect project to use up those small balls of leftover yarn and it works up so fast that you'll find yourself making a small army of them! I find they're perfect for market prep or stocking stuffers. Make them into keychains or bookmarks or keep them as they are. Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn, I used Big Twist Value in Baby Pink

  • 3.75mm hook, I like this hook by Tulip Etimo

  • Safety eyes (I used 6mm)

  • Fiber fill

  • Stitch markers

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors


Abbreviations:

  • mr- magic ring

  • st- stitch

  • sc- single crochet

  • inc- increase

  • ss- slip stitch

  • hdc- half double crochet

  • dec- decrease

  • FLO- front loops only

  • FO- finish off/fasten off


Round 1: mr 6 sc [6]

Round 2: inc x6 [12]

Round 3: sc 1, inc, ss into the front loop in the next st, ch 3, in 2nd ch from hook place hdc and then sc, ss back into same loop, inc, sc 1, inc, ss into front loop in the next st, ch 3, in 2nd ch from hook place hdc and then sc, ss back into same loop, inc, (sc 1, inc)x2 [18]




Round 4: sc around, placing a sc in back loops left over from last round [18] 

Round 5-6: (2 rounds) sc around [18]

Round 7: sc 14, dec x 2 [16]

Round 8: FLO, (ss in next st, ch 3, in 2nd ch from hook, place a sc and then a hdc in the next ch. Ss into next st) repeat seven more times to make the tentacles. [8 tentacles, 8 ss, 16 back loops]


Round 9: Working in the back loops of round 7, (sc 1, dec)x5, sc 1 [11]

Place safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7, 5-6 stitches apart, lining up with the ears. Begin stuffing here.

Round 10: dec x5, sc 1 [6]

FO, weave in tail.
