Amigurumi Potion Bottles

***You can purchase an INEXPENSIVE AD-FREE PDF of this pattern on Etsy! The pattern is concise, downloadable, and printable and your purchase helps me to continue putting out free patterns!***

Hello crochet friends! Welcome back to my blog for another free pattern! Today we'll be making my Amigurumi Potion Bottles Pattern!

This pattern is pretty beginner-friendly and quick to make. Each amigurumi potion bottle only consists of two pieces, making them easy to assemble. You can customize your potion bottles by changing the size of yarn, or adding beads or trinkets! My favorite yarn to make these plushies out of is Big Twist Twinkle from Joann Fabrics, it's so soft for a metallic yarn and the sparkles really lend themselves to the magical vibe of the potion bottles! (I am not sponsored, by the way. I just really like this yarn haha.)

If you've been following me on Instagram for a while, then you probably saw me designing these bottles around Halloween time last year, but I ran out of time and just couldn't get the pattern tested and published before Halloween. So, I am very excited to finally be putting this pattern out and sharing it with you all! I know it's still a little early in the year for some people to be starting Halloween makes, but I've got a few spooky patterns I hope to share with you this autumn, so we're starting early this year!!

Alright, let's grab our crochet hooks and get making, shall we?!

~If you have any questions about the pattern, or you just want to send me a picture of your finished project please contact me at contact.cutiepiecrochet@gmail.com! Feel free to make and sell these, but please do not mass produce! If you would like to share this pattern, please link to this page, but do not reprint it on your site. • Worsted weight yarn (size 4) in the colors of your choice

  • Polyester Fiber Fill

  • 3.75mm crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • Stitch markers

  • Pins

Abbreviations:

  • St- stitch

  • Sc- single crochet

  • Inc- increase (sc twice in one stitch)

  • Dec- decrease (sc two stitches together)

  • BLO- sc in back loops only

  • FLO- sc in front loops only

Helpful notes before you begin:

  • If you’d like to minimize sewing, you can slipstitch through the rows that call for sewing on the bottle portions of the pattern. (Pictured under the “Big Round Bottle” pattern below.)

  • It’s important to stuff evenly and not too firmly so that your potion bottles can remain upright when they’re set down.

  • Stiffer yarns are best for this pattern (like RedHeart Supersaver or cotton yarn) because they hold their shape a bit better, but you can definitely use whatever yarns you’d like, you might just have to squish your plushies into shape a bit more after stuffing.

Rounds 20-21: sc around [18]

Round 22: (sc 1, dec)x6 [12]

Tie off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing your bottle:

This part is a little fiddly, so don’t worry if it takes a little while. To give the bottle the ridge at the top, we’re going to sew (or slip stitch) row 22 down to the back loops that are leftover from row 18. After you’re done sewing that down, tie off and hide the remaining tail, and then lightly stuff the neck of the bottle!

Assembly:

All you have to do to assemble these cute plushies is just pin the cork on the top opening of each bottle and sew them on!

To add character to my bottles, I like to chain a long chain with tan yarn and then sew it onto the bottle, and sometimes I add beads to the chain to give it even more character, like I did with the blue bottle!

I really hope you had fun making your potions, if you do, you should tag me on Instagram so I can see your wonderful creations! (@cutiepie_crochet).
