Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog! Today I'm going to learn you how to make a little octopus!
I came up with this idea about a year and a half ago and I had actually forgotten I ever attempted to make one until I cleaned out my office closet last week! The initial finished result wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but when I pulled it out of a storage box, I knew exactly what I wanted to do differently!
After I finished the new and improved Kawaii Octopus I realized that virtually all of my posts on here include pink plushies, so I wanted to try challenging myself to use a different color. I grabbed a squash color that made me super uncomfortable and got to work. When I finished with it, it still felt like something was missing... Top hat. It definitely needed a top hat. And you can't have a top hat without a mustache in this kawaii world.
I seriously could not be more happy with my dapper octopus. I was so excited that I showed basically everyone I know. So, you don't haaaaave to add the top hat and mustache, but I highly recommend it!
Now that I'm done rambling, let's get to making!

Make sure to stuff the body firmly, so it's nice and round! Fasten off, weave in ends
*If adding a mouth, I recommend embroidering it before closing up the body, a couple of rows under the eyes*
Tentacles (make 8):
Round 1: mr 6 [6]
Round 2: inc x6 [12]
Round 3-4: sc around [12]
Stuff firmly, fasten off, and attach to the bottom of the body. I like to line the edge of each tentacle with round 18, this is where I find they fit best.
Top Hat:
Round 1: mr 6 [6]
Round 2: inc x6 [12]
Round 3: (sc 1, inc)x6 [18]
Round 4: (back loops only) sc around [18]
Rounds 5-8: sc around [18]
Round 9: (front loops only) (sc 2, inc)x6 [24]
Round 10: (sc 3, inc)x6 [30]
Fasten off, attach to the top of the body, and stuff while attaching.
Mustache:
The mustache is pretty easy to make, all you need to do is fold a piece of felt in half and draw a sideways comma. Cut around the comma, but not the folded part. After it's cut out, flip it over so you can't see the marker/pen/whatever, and then attach it!
That's it! Pretty simple, huh?
